Second Liutenant Shrecky
reporting!

Operation Springer Mantis was an strong success in
my opinion, my unit wiped out over 200 enemy soldiers including 2
Flak Panzers, 1 Nebelwerfer and 4 Opel Blitz trucks. From this battle
we gained the Medal of Honor and Manouvre Ribbon.

The
squad began mediocre, not high rifle's but good morale, we advanced
receiving no hard resistance, bought a Scout and a Spec Ops as
available, kept on moving.Wave 45, I decided, after advancing over 10
screens, that we needed to take base, 2 more screens and bought an
engy and an officer. In the 2nd intel picture we can see my defence
at its prime, from there things only got worst...
Wave 54:We've
been forced to leave our forward trench after the Flak Panzer
eradicated the sand bags, an officer and a medic.
Five waves later
I saw that we were doomed, the lack anti-tank weaponry, well the fact
that it gets wiped out, was overwhelming, we just couldn't hold out
for longer, I ordered a tactical fallback at wave 63... Death truly drives
Diesel.

KIA:1 mortar
3 regulars
2 Spec Ops
3 medics, 1 from a supply drop

1 officer
1 bazooka
1 scout

________________________________________________

Deployment 2: We took out multiple officers and Opel Blitz Trucks, but we failed at our primary objective, reaching wave 100.
" border="0" />

Starting with an officer and not likeing the terrain we moved a few clicks north , on the 2. map we lost a good man. When we got the open area we we're looking for, i sent the officer and 2 troops with SG's on the topside, with the remaining man giving support fire.

Raked up enough TP's for a jeep, sat it in the right corner with the coverfire troop behind it. The upper team took out most of the Jerrys and my jeep took care of the rest.

Upgraded the coverfire troop with a BAR and when one of my SG troops died, bought a sniper." border="0" />

A few waves later the other SG troop was down, so another jeep was in order, placed the sniper and the jeep same way as the other one but on the left corner.

In this manor we continued, using heroism and ranger training on the troops and calling out a mortar.

Our highlights for the next segment were a TIP from the Colonel's HQ saying:If you can't remember, the Claymore is pointed at you.

At wave 70, things started to get edgy. We faced a Para Blitz, the beginning of the end, They took out almost every one of my troops except the Sniper Leblanc and my left jeep." border="0" />

" border="0" />

In the picture above we see a flak Panzer, the remaining jeep is empty, so the only troop remaining is S.Leblanc, shortly after this another setback, a Special weapons blitz and a few dozen panzergrenadier troops half way down the map. Retreating was no option, so relying on my sniper we pushed forth until we got taken down.

KIA: 4 jeep crews, 1 Jeep demolished, 1 crew replacement
1 Sniper, 4 regulars, a mortar, an officer and 2 Spec Ops.

Mission succeeded better then the first one except we still haven't break the 100 mark.

Notice of outstanding loyalty and effort to the country,Sniper S.Leblanc

Keep up the good work. You have 4 more deployments to get the mission done.

I'll be back for some recon reports as soon as I get my mobile command centre up and running.

Good stuff, lots of enemy units you've taken down.

Good luck with trying for wave 100 on your next deployments. Mind that there's no need to advance anymore, just hold the ground for long enough. You will probably need a lot of explosives.

Deployment Log
14th August

I started by deploying 4 riflemen (default)

Rifleman K. Cox R17 E0 M97
Rifleman L. Jhonson R15 E0 M51
Rifleman Y. Shifty R19 E0 M7
Rifleman F. Oligny R18 E0 M12
The battle field was quite clear but I planned to advance

3 wave's of nazi's arrived
The 3rd wave happened as my final Rifleman advanced
I arrived in the new map and armed Jhonson andCox with Tommy gun's

I armed Oligny with a tommy gun
After a few waves I armed Shifty with a Bar Machine gun.
A crate drops.

The crate contained Propaganda, adding 5 morale to all of my troops.
I ordered a anti-armour troop.
Anti-Armour P. Turner R13 E0 M50

Shifty was injured, ordered a Medic.
Medic H.Oligny R16 E25 M7

Ordere'd a technichian
Field Engineer Q. Jacques R11 E0 M0
A crate drops

The crate contains
Field Engineer E.White R23 E0 M57
I build a cam net and place both engineer's under it
aswell as placing the anti-armour in a tree
a crate drops

The crate contains field manuels giving all my troops +5 Experience
I place my medic inbetween my engineer's

I got one of my engineer's to build all of my riflemen sandbag's for cover

After a while a mortar shell blows up one of the sandbag's , The sandbag's saved shifty's life.

Moved my medic
and a crate dropped - It's gonna have to wait.

Special Weapon's blitz (Oh crap Sad )

It doesn't go very well
and the germans change tactic

About a minute after I lost the signal between my troop's

I am absolutley shocked by the result of this mission attempt.
While I was doing so well, bang, all of my troop's died from Burn's and Explosions....

When operating in the field. You should have 2 defensive positions. One line in the front providing distraction/halting enemy movement, and one line in the rear providing fire support. However front line is easily crushed by flamers and vehicles, so it is only useful during early and halfway mid-game. The function of a frontal position is to buy enough time to setup a strong rear defensive position. A couple of bunkers, a few trenches and a signal tower is the basic thing you need done ASAP.

Only call for heavy firepower when the need arises. If you are only facing infantries, you can put off calling zooks and call in a HMG instead.

During mid-game, you should always have about 8 TP in reserve. If your troops are being overrun, you can use the 8TP to deploy suitable units for the job. I usually use them to deploy a commando (spec ops) and a medic.

That's an interesting setup you've used. It was sheer bad luck that the Germans caught on to it and sent you first flamers, then an overwhelming amount of troops, but it was also aggravated by your lack of real defenses on the back of the field, as CW observed.
